Last day and there were a few injuries from the previous day's antics. My hand had swelled up and I was in doubt as to my ability to hold on to the boom. Slow rig and watched the others before heading out after lunch.

Surprisingly not being able to grip with my little finger didn't really effect my sailing but it was so overpowered that survival sailing was the order of the day. The key was to come in at speed and gybe in the shallows, hook in and get in the footstraps to launch skywards off the breaking stuff. Got some big air but was not interested in any more forward attempts - that's for saner conditions. Once outside the break it was extremely difficult to control with teeth jarring chop on the swell. Tried out one of the lad's Quatro 63L and was amazed at the extra control gained by the smaller board, even though his boom was down at waist height with 20" lines!!

A good end to the trip and, even with the brave last attempts by 2 of the loopers in mental conditions, the pot remained unclaimed as no one had sailed away from one. A meal down at the Hotel and a celebratory drink with the contents of the loop pot to round off the week. Roll on next year.
